Whether to isolate your bed during a bed bug infestation is a decision that for some is controversial, depending on what kind of pest control treatment you are having. However, statistics and logic may suggest that isolating your bed before you have bed bugs, may actually prevent an infestation should a bed bug make its way into your home.
Is it possible to prevent bed bug infestations?
The honest answer to this question, at this time, is not really. There is no way to keep bed bugs from being carried, unknowingly, into your home on a package, backpack, jacket, used furniture or books. Bed bugs are among us and are typically spread by hitch-hiking from one person's objects to the next person's objects. They may also be spread in transportation, movie theaters, cafes, libraries, etc..
You can see the only way to ensure you would never come in contact with bed bugs would be to stay in your bed bug free home and not allow anyone else inside. But since you're probably not Howard Hughes, you probably come out of your house now and again.
What if you could capture one that did come into your home before it reached you?

They're cups for your bed's legs to sit in. So obviously your bed frame would have to have legs and they would have to fit in the cups. The cup in the middle is where the bed legs go and there is an outer well (see pic) that captures bed bugs before they can reach the bed leg. Talc powder in the outer well prevents the bed bugs from being able to climb up the slick smooth plastic.
Skeptical? Don't be, these have been tested to death at university labs, and they work. The inner well is actually designed for people that already have bed bugs and the logic is bed bugs climbing down from your bed (if you had bed bugs, not you) would get stuck maybe in the center where the bed leg is, but it wouldn't get out and away from the bed.
The outer well is designed to keep a bed bug from ever reaching your bed. But your bed must be isolated from the wall and no, that's zero, bedding can touch the floor, ever.
So it's a tradeoff, as are so many things in life. In this case it's Aesthetics vs Peace of Mind. That will have to be your decision, but I have come to believe that this is a good idea, if you are concerned about getting bed bugs.
